The Friends of the Pool Garden

May 2011 Update

Earlier in 2010 this community group was constituted with the specific aim to raise funds to replace the old play facilities for the under 10s situated in Pool Garden, Farm Street Fladbury. The members of the community group are in the main parents of children in the village.

We have carried out village surveys (children and adults), done some research of the local play facilities, developed design briefs, obtained quotes from suppliers and carried out held a number of events to raise funds for the playground. We have had a tea party, a Halloween Party, a cup cake stall, a Cheese Tasting Supper, bring and buy at the church, off road Run, table top sale, Christmas and Easter parties and events at the Royal Wedding Garden Party at the Chequers Inn. We have applied for and received several grants, including one from Fladbury Parish Council and donations from the Fladbury Walkabout. Thanks to all who have worked for and contributed to these events, we have raised over £34,000 which means that work on the new playground will begin this month and much will be completed in time for the Walkabout. We are now selling tickets for our Grand Draw at Fladbury Regatta on 21 May which hopefully will enable us to reach our target.
